Government Accepts AU’s Call to Begin Peace Talk –

Addis Ababa, October 5/2022 (Walta) – The Ethiopian Government has accepted the formal invitation of the African Union (AU) to begin peace talk according to the Government Communication Service (GCS) in order to solve the security crisis in the northern part of the country.

In its official invitation to begin peace talks, the AU has announced both the date and venue.

According to GCS, the AU’s official invitation is consistent with the Ethiopian Government’s prior positions.

The Ethiopian Government has been consistently expressing its commitment repeatedly that the talks should only be mediated by the African Union and should be held without any pre-conditions.

“The Government of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia remains committed to adopting all possible measures to resolve the conflict in a manner that ensures lasting peace, territorial integrity of the country and will continue upholding this commitment,” said the GCS in statement it released today.
