Addis Ababa, May 25, 2023 (Walta) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, conferred with Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), in Beijing, China today.
During the discussion, Demeke expressed his gratitude to the Chinese monetary and non-monetary assistance to Ethiopia based on the principles of mutual benefits with no conditions on internal political issues.
Demeke also noted China’s invaluable contributions to Ethiopia’s development endeavors in the spirit of South-South cooperation and calls Beijing to continue its assistance in the implementation of the Pretoria Peace agreement and subsequent rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts by the Ethiopian government.
Chairperson of CIDCA, Luo Zhaohui, on his part, underlined that Ethiopia is a strategic partner to China and an influential player in Africa.
He noted that China will continue to support Ethiopia in agriculture, education, riverside development projects, and other sectors, according to MFA of Ethiopia.
At the invitation of State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Qin Gang, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen is on an official visit to China between May 24 and 28, 2023.
