Addis Ababa, August 17, 2022(Walta) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen met with Sarah Montgomery, UK Special Envoy for the Red Sea & Horn of Africa, today in his office.
The deputy prime minister and foreign minister recalled the historic relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of further solidifying ties between Ethiopia and the UK.
He also valued the comprehensive and all-encompassing assistance provided to Ethiopia by the UK government.
Demeke also spoke extensively about the state of affairs in the northern region of Ethiopia and the government’s commitment to the current peace process being spearheaded by the AU.
The special envoy for her part said that she will do her part to strengthen the long-term friendship between the two countries and indicated that she is ready to support the peace process.
